The Initiative for Multilingual Studies (IMS) is committed to advancing knowledge about multilingualism through interdisciplinary empirical research.
It supports its members in the design, funding, conduct, and communication of research about
the benefits of multilingualism in neurocognitive, academic, economic, personal, social, and geopolitical domains
the misunderstanding and mismanagement of multilingualism, particularly in vulnerable communities, such as immigrants, Indigenous peoples, regional minorities, and marginalized groups such as Deaf and LGBTQI+ communities
